Dolomites Skiing Specialists - The Ski Safari Leaders
The Dolomites Ski Safari Ski Leaders are all Dolomites skiing specialists and native English speakers . Chris, Russ, Lou and Tim have a minimum of seven full seasons living and skiing here and each has over 7,500miles of skiing in the Dolomite Mountains. And a BIG SKi Safari welcome to Jill who joins us for the 2015
Tim, 55, is Principal Ski Leader, Director & Founder Inspired ITALY Ltd & The Ski Safari. He is a veteran adventure sports enthusiast & expedition leader on skis, sailing & hang gliding. He is a member of the Ski Club of Great Britain, British Association of Ski Patrollers and British Hang Gliding & Paragliding Assoc. Tim holds a current BASP mountain first aid certificate & is a qualified hang gliding instructor and coach.
Tim’s Favourite Piste:“I could choose so many! I love to see the expression on the clients faces at the bottom of Buffaure 1! Me, I’d probably go for Seceda on an early January morning with my Atomic Double-Decker 179’s!”
Louise is a Director and Founder of Inspired ITALY Ltd & The Ski Safari. She is a Ski Leader who has lived in the Dolomites for many years. Her thorough knowledge & deep passion for the region, in particular for the food & wine, ensures that you have a great Ski Safari experience. Louise is a Hang Gliding World Champion Team Gold Medalist.
Lou’s Favourite Piste: “I too love the 10.5k of Seceda! Its the variety of piste from broad constant piste angles, long carving corners, tree lined and the canyon! Not to mention our favourite rifugio’s.”
Jill is an experienced Ski Leader and joins us for the 2015/16 season. Fluent in Italian, Jill has lived in Italy for many, many years. Jill is a very keen skier who loves her turns!!!
Jill’s Favourite Piste: “Under the chair lift, but don’t tell anyone! Staunies in Cortina is my favorite piste.”
Russ, Ski Leader, is a master sailor and Commercial Yacht Master. He is on his second circumnavigation of the worlds oceans. Russ has recorded over 10,000 miles skied in the Dolomites. He is probably the fittest 65 year old we know. Ask Russ how many ‘crunches’ he does!
Russ’s Favourite Piste: “Charlie! Its a scrappy little narrow piste but it holds your concentration all the way! I’d like to put a mention in for Marmolada too! Why has no one else mentioned it? Have you all forgotten about that famous Ski Safari morning a few years ago when we got to the top and it was covered in light fluffy powder? Has to be the best run of my entire life!”
An Australian, Christine, is a retired teacher, spends her summers cruising the worlds oceans and winters on the Dolomite slopes with her husband, Russ. Chris is a very experienced adventurer, great skier and superbly fit!
Chris’s Favourite Piste:“My ab-fab run is Col Rodella, usually on my way around the Sella at about 9.30am. The run from top to bottom is fantastic as its in the sun and the piste is still newly groomed. The run is a great variety of reds with wide pistes and some demanding corners…but the thrill of the corners makes it my favourite run. The reward is the best coffee stop at the hut before going under the tunnel to Belvedere!”
“Honestly, it really was an utterly, utterly fab holiday and thank you SO much for organising it all. We could/would NEVER have experienced such a thing had it not been for you. I honestly NEVER want to ski anywhere else again and we would LOVE to do it again next year. I read in the Sunday Times today that ‘ski touring’ is the next big thing!” Deborah Maby, Jan ’14
